Runway has announced a new enterprise licensing program that gives businesses direct access to the weights behind its state-of-the-art video generation models. Rather than working only through Runway's own hosted tools, companies can now take the underlying model itself and adapt it to their own needs. According to Runway, licensees will be able to fine-tune the models using their proprietary data, run them on their own infrastructure instead of Runway's cloud, and commercialize whatever products result from that customization. That marks a shift from the typical SaaS-style access most AI video platforms offer, giving enterprise customers much deeper control over how the technology is deployed and monetized. Runway says the program comes with what it calls "white glove service," including support from in-house Forward Deployed Researchers who will presumably help clients integrate and adapt the models for specialized use cases. The company detailed the offering in a post on X, positioning it as a way for enterprises to essentially build their own bespoke frontier models on top of Runway's existing research. The move suggests Runway is looking to expand its business beyond consumer-facing and creative tools into infrastructure-level deals with larger organizations that want more ownership over their AI video pipelines. By licensing out the weights themselves, Runway opens the door to industry-specific applications that may go well beyond the film and content creation use cases the company is best known for.
