GPT-Image 2.5 is now on Runway

Runway has added OpenAI's GPT-Image 2.5 to its platform, offering two modes: the fast Flare and the precision-focused Sunburst.

Runway announced that GPT-Image 2.5 is now live on its platform, expanding the image-generation options available to users alongside its existing lineup of video and image models. The rollout comes packaged as two distinct modes rather than a single unified tool, giving creators a choice depending on whether they're sketching ideas or polishing final output. The first mode, called Flare, is pitched as the quicker option, meant for rapid back-and-forth iteration when someone is still exploring concepts rather than locking in a final image. The second, Sunburst, is built for the opposite end of the workflow: careful, high-precision edits where fidelity matters most. According to Runway, both modes are available immediately and sit alongside what the company describes as some of the best image and video models currently on the market, positioning GPT-Image 2.5 as a complementary addition rather than a replacement for its other tools. Runway shared the news directly through its official account, framing the launch as a way to give users more flexibility in how they move from early-stage exploration to finished, high-fidelity edits within the same platform.
